| The four in order: Mikey, Roger, William and Grant |
Loni with her fifth pregnancy wasn't feeling very well, especially with four very active and healthy boys to take care of as well. Just recently being pregnant, I felt I had true empathy. So my mom offered to come out for some moral support. Of course, I hated to feel left out, and my dad offered to pay for half of the trip, and Nathan was supportive to let me take Audrey. It was her very first time flying and she was such a trooper, and people were so supportive and helpful. They all had a look of skeptisim while you board the plan, then after we landed so many commented on how she didn't make a peep or cry at all, all shocked with satisfaction. Like Loni said, you bring one child, everyone dots and bends over backwards. But you bring three or four kids, they totally avoid any kind of eye contact, hoping you will not select the seat next to them. So true. She was so precious and everyone thought she was a newborn, she still looks so small and little.
Well we got to Loni's and did what girls do, talk and shop. We took the boys to a secret Santa event, where we helped them get presents for their parents and brothers. It was really fun and sweet. I got to help William, he picked out a candle for his mom, light for his dad, a dora hairbrush for me and cute little slippers for Audrey and of course a little more cooler things for his brothers. It was such a fun and creative idea. We talked about how we should implement that in our wards, it's a great way to get affordable gifts for siblings and makes is fun for the kids. Then we drove by a local high school and it said, Christmas Craft Fair. My mom, going back to her early mother years, said she wanted to go. Loni and I more hesitated, just because we didn't want to drag all the kids and it costs $3 a person, and so my mom offered to pay for everyone, so we of course jumped on board the free ticket. So when we got to the entrance when we asked how much for the kids, the lady said, "Oh kids are free and we actually offer free babysitting." Well in that case, how long does this craft fair last? It was the best news we heard all year. So we dropped the kids and Loni was so sweet and maternal. She, being pregnant wanted to hold Audrey in her sling, she said how fun it was how many people comment on a baby and what conversation starter she is. Well, we of course found some fun things, like some hair bows and bands for Audrey, of course. I then found a great booth where she recycles her stuff to make new things, and plays on the trendy vintage interests. I bought a cute purse she had embellished and notebook/wallet and other fun treasures. It was a hit. We then just enjoyed the rest of the day with the kids and Todd when he got back from work.
Then we went to church on Sunday and Loni's boys were so funny with Audrey, we put her in a red christmas dress with a tutu, and they just ohhhh and ahhh and said she looked like a princess and just kept repeating her name over and over in the car, she was like for real royalty. Then they all wanted to help carry her in, so it was like they all helped carry her in a grand chariot or something. I kept telling Loni watch out if you have a girl, she is going to be spoiled by all of these four dotting brothers. She was good to handle, at times it might have been a little too much loving for a four month old.
It is always good to reconnect with Loni and her family, how I wish she lived closer. But I look forward to seeing her in January.
