Bridal Pictures

So my really good friend Amy referred me to her old mission companion and a friend of her's that became a friend of mine. She was living in St. George and worked for Forevermore Wedding Events and Planning gig in St. George, as a photographer. So she did my bridals pics and we went down to my parents ponds and at my old house and just took some fun shots. It was very nastologic and fun. I hope you like them. To see all of them go to her website

I said YES!

So this might come as a bit of a shock to some and to some it may not, it did to me. I met Mr. Nathan Scott Gubler this fall in beginning September 2009. He had recently returned from his mission, Richmond, VA (yes, he is a young one, it looks as though I have robbed the cradle, other's just simply call me a cougar). I recently had moved from New York City to start my Hellish job (yes, because it so, working with the hardest kids in Vegas, what else would you expect?).  He was assigned to be my roommies and I hometeacher. He was super cute and super nice, we all thought he was a doll, but just never thought anything further than that due to his age. Well as the beginning months of my life unveiled in Vegas, it was rough transition to say the least. So it led me to weekend get aways to LaVerkin. So I never became huber social or involved in the ward. After my Christmas vacation, on the Lichfield's "singles" cruise. I had a lot of soul searching, and in that it was to get more involved in my ward and to make more of an effort to attend my ward regularly.  I also read a profound book, " A Single Voice" by Sister Kristen Oaks (my buddy Joe's aunt), the book inspired me to not hold back in living my dreams just because I was single. So I too decided to take the plunge and invest in the rocky real estate, but hey Vegas is a buyer's market. So literally the night I had just seen the house I now live in, and knew it was the house I wanted (put a bid in it next day, and was in contract that week) My mom say a cute little Elementary school and said, "Lyndee, that is where your children could go to school." I kind of rolled my eyes and was like," Mom, let's don't get ahead of yourself." type thing, really surrendering that I was going to embrace being a new single cat/house lady... whatever they call it these days, a spinster, and I really was at an okay with it. Few minutes after that I had received a new voice mail message, I had lost reception, that is why I didn't see the phone call. And it was from my home teacher, Nathan Gubler, granted this was on a Saturday night and I thought it was totally random he called me, because I didn't really have a connection or friendship, merely an acquaintance that he was my home teacher. And then I thought, Oh no, I am being patronized, I am on the inactive list and he's doing a reaching out call. I didn't call him back, because I didn't have his number and just brushed it off, figured I would see him tomorrow at church and let him know I am alive and well. So I simply saw him at church with my roommates and we planned to meet the following week. Well that following week, they decided to meet earlier than later and I was quite bothered because I was in LaVerkin that weekend (of course), and didn't want to bail out early. But there was something compelling me to return home for the home teachers, maybe because I felt bad I have been inactive, or non-responsive, or to follow my new goal to attend my church duties, or maybe because the lord had a grander plan. Whatever my thinking was, I followed the spirt, which I am grateful for to this day.
When returning home, I was late (of course) Nathan was talking to my roommates (who both happen to be very giddy and talkative ladies, so I tend to be more reserved around them).  He was talking to them about their love lives, one was engaged and the other dating a guy. So when I came in, he asked if I was dating anyone (don't we all love that question). I simply and proudly said, No but I did buy a house, that is my most recent relationship. So then he proceed to ask what kind of guys I like and maybe he could hook me up. I took him seriously and he told me, he almost thought his cousin would be a match. Thinking nothing of it, he followed up his lesson with "Is there anything I can do for you?" So I then asked if he had a truck and could help me pick up a futon at Costco for my new house. He agreed and tried to pin put the exact details then and there, I told him I am kind of a free spirit, so let's tentatively plan for Friday, but I would text him (so me).  He then picked me up and we so happened to hit it off, mainly because I didn't think of him as a prospect and was totally my spunky self.  I had a hard time wrapping my head around him only being 22, but we connected really well, he was so impressive with his direction and motivation in life, and was laid back and chill as well. He then took the iniative and asked me to a Fireside right after,  I was impressed he dared ask such an older woman out, but that was one of his attractive qualities, is he knows what he wants and doesn't hold back in going for it. Needless to say the rest is history, I become more than just a home teachee "charity case" he helped me move, put up pictures, we took a spontaneous trip to LaVerkin, then went to California, Brian head and so forth. Things just blossomed and progressed so quickly. When it's right, it's right. It all had to do with timing and the lord preparing me to be ready to take this step, before he presented me with the guy. So has may have said, 'if you build it he will come," aka me buying the house. I just love the irony of when I really had come to terms with embracing being single, it came out of nowhere with someone I would least expect, and I am glad I was in tune enough to be open about the age difference, for I would surely have missed out on a great guy and wonderful, fun and loving relationship.

So that's the story, after we were dating for two and half months, we started talking about marriage, and looked at rings, he asked for both of my parents permission. He then surprised me at my parents pond on a weekend we were apart, and had my favorite music playing, David Lanz,  with a table with a candle light, champaign glasses and sparkling cider and my favorite dessert, hot lava chocolate molten cake from Chiles, and a big gallon of my favorite ice cream mint chocolate chip, so thoughtful and sweet. He then got down on one knee and asked If I would marry him. I got excited and said yes and impulsively picked up the ring and put it on my finger. I didn't realize I had, so many years of being independent I guess, he later told me.
So there you have it, kind of random and unexpected, but like my roommate recently said, what else would expect from me :)
So here are the details-

We are getting married Saturday June 19, 2010 in the San Diego Temple. Having a reception in LaVerkin on June 26th, 2010 and an Open House in SLC on July 10th. Hope you can attend, email me your address so I can put you on the invite list lyndeemaud@gmail.com

Spring Skiing!

For all of those who know me rather well. I am very much a dabbler, as my good friend Happy says, so I try this and that, not too much a die hard of anything with exception of traveling and shopping :)

One of those random fair weather hobbies, is skiing, but it all depends on the weather and the company. So for my mom's birthday my whole family rented out a nice cabin in Brian head and we went spring skiing, I have not been in three years, but just like riding a bike, only fell once :) Nathan is a snow boarder, so we made quite the pair, but we still were able to make out on the ski lift.... don't you worry :)

CALIFORNIA BABY!!

So my new beau, aka Nathan Gubler, no he is not from La Verkin, Utah, ironic I know. Took a little venture to So Cal, to attend my friend Kari's wedding, a girl I met on my Israel trip back in 2008. We had tons of fun, we stayed at my good friend Sara Olds house in Huntington Beach. We woke up and "tried" to go running, but took more of a leisure walk by the ocean. We then met up with my good friend Monique at the Irvine Spectrum, where we hung out with her darling little girl Brook, then went to a yummy and exotic looking mexican restaurant called Javier's. We then went to attend my friend's open house, where I was able to see and catch up with Monica and Charlie, the other friends I met on my Israel trip. We then went to the Harbor House late at night, where we mistakenly ordered a not so good veggie sandwhich :( We then went hot tubbing at my friends Sara, so R-E-L-A-X-I-N-G. We then went to Sara's ward, which was like a mini reunion. I ran into Elise Peterson from my Belmont era, and then saw my good friend Britta Facer's old roommate, Lisa Ward, and a friend from NY, Jenn Fernie, happen to be visiting, then Jessica, a girl who lived in NYC this past summer and the best surprise was my new favorite person, Lindsey Williams, who is Nici Mauri (Joe D's girlfriend) best friend, who recently came to visit me in Vegas and made fun of my cheap pens I was giving away from my recent travels. We saw each other at RS, and just giggled for like 5 mins. it was such a fun surprised. Then Nathan and I went and chit chatted with Sara's parents, then went to see the Sunset on the Beach, so fun and romantic :)

Heather B. Jolley's wedding....

So when moving to Vegas, we had a room opening and it so it serendipitously worked out that my friend Amy's mother's legal secretary was in dyer need for housing. So she connected us together and it made all the difference. She was just the missing piece we needed in our house. We hit it off, she had some interest in going into Social Work and was fascinated that I lived in New York. We always had such good and indepth talks. When she moved in, she was dating a darling guy, Daniel Jolley, and things progressed and she became engaged by the Holidays. Her wedding was March 12, so we were able to throw her a fun bridal shower and also attend the sealing and the reception. She has been such a blessing during this season of my life, I wish her the best in all she does :)

The Canadians come into town!!!

"If you build it they will come" so it just so happened before I finalized on my house, my good friend Meghan from BC, Canada planned a trip to Vegas with her sister Keisha and her friend Jackie. So they were my first official guests at my house with it furnished. We had fun shopping at Town Square, the outlets, eating at the Flamingo buffet and then playing Monopoly in Don's suite over looking The Strip. And PS, I did win, again :)

Loni comes into town!!!

So right after my weekend trip to SLC, that Tuesday night, Loni my sister came into town to visit my family in Southern Utah, and it happened to be the same night I got the keys to my new house. So they settled shop there, with out any furniture, needless to say she was going stir crazy and of course her boys got into some mischief. One morning, they figured out how to open the garage door, and went over the neighbor's house... whew! And they also had fun playing in my bare and empty pantry.....Then one night my dad took us to the American Super Stars where we met an Elvis and many other star look alikes :)

Happy Valentines day, Utah style....

So for President's day weekend, my good friend Amy and I went up to SLC for a little Winter get away, because we both are quite independent, she did her thing and I did my thing. I stayed in SLC with my younger sister and brother, we went to my brother's ward at the institute at the U, I felt so OLD.... and it was on Valentines Day, so in priesthood they sponsored roses for the men to give to the women of the ward, my brother was thoughtful enough to give us each a rose... so sweet and thoughtful :) Then later that night I went to an older single adult Valentines party where my good friend Mark Holt hosted at his smashing house with a karokee room, where we rocked out to Bette Davis eyes and many other memorable oldies... it was some good times!

Then I was able to go to breakfast with my good friend Tracy, Joe and Dave... then a pit stop to Trolley Square where I was able to meet up with good friend Melanie for lunch... how I LOVE SLC and love my good friends :)

New Home Owner.... thanks for the 8g's Obama...

So I guess it's kind of the thing to do while in Vegas, is not so much to gamble and party but to take advantage of the buyer's market. So the opportunist and investment mind that I have, decided to do just that... however so contridicting to my free spirit and nomadic lifestyle.... it's a bit of a stretch, but it's a beautiful house in the Paseo's close to Red Rock Canyon and got it 60% cheaper than it was orginally sold for, and I am a girl who obviously likes a good bargain :)

So here it is... if you are ever in Vegas, I would love to show it to you...
