Our Happy festive Family
Christmas Eve was always a big event in my family's household because of course it was the beloved first child's birthday. So we always had a dual celebration. We always had a grand dinner, desert, nativity program and opening of the one present of brand new pj's, and of course the older kids stayed up and watched, "How to support your local sheriff," random Christmas tradition I know. Well, it started out with good intentions, and we had dinner, but instead of a nativity it become a talent competition between the kids, with piano playing, telling stories, dancing and singing to of course the most appropriate, Black Eye peas music for this special christian holiday. It was just kind of a crazy and very diverse Christmas Eve. Then my lone brother Reagan we kept waiting for him to show up, literally shows up the 11th hour and told us he almost didn't come... oh so sad... it kind of was not the ideal Christmas, but it was still Christmas Eve and at least we all had each other. We were too tired to even stay up for the movie, so we headed back to our place to sleep. So it was my first time not sleeping over as a group- I guess it's time for me to grow up. Anyways, back to Roger, he has always been a great and supportive older brother and sure glad he was born and a part of my family.

Finally meeting Aunt Lana

So my old roommate from NYC was coming into town, and hosting a Christmas party for all the fellow New Yorkers at her place in Salt Lake City. Well loving a good old reunion and always looking for reasons to come up north to visit friends, we jumped on the opportunity. So we got to stay at my mom's nice apartment downtown. We met up with my good girl friends from Provo to celebrate my friend Angela's birthday, non other than the classy Texas Road house. It was fun to see everyone and for everyone to finally met Audrey and do our tradition, head over to Angela's place to chill and talk. We then got to spend some time with mom (she was up there for a family party) and Reagan at the apartment, ate at Market Street Grill for breakfast. Met up with Reagan and LeNae for lunch- LeNae was way busy with working. Then went to the New York Party that night. It was fun to see some familiar faces, I hoping more would attend. But it's always good to see an old friend. It's just kind of hard when I am kind of in a different stage- but they were all so cool and gracious to welcome me as usual. Then we got to see and catch up with my good old friend and blood sister Lana Neilson, Nathan only met her at our wedding, so it was fun to get more acquainted and catch up on life since we hadn't seen each other for awhile. We always have such great chats, even if it was for a few hours at Zupa's or somewhere like that on 4th south. Then we left the winter wonderland back down to the warm southern utah.

Luca and Santa

My good ole friend- Annie Buggerman and her cute little baby

So one day at exercise Paula approached me about the upcoming Ward Christmas Party and how she was in the planning meeting and they decided to ask me to be in charge of the Santa Room. Kind of taken back and shocked, as to why me, I think I later figured it out, I think they thought my mom had a Santa suit and some decor, and they asked Kara to be my assistant, with the thoughts that Chaffin could be Santa. Well, I did this with a pretty good attitude, and we pulled it off. Chaffin happen to be on shift that night, and my mom suggested I ask Brian, her kind of off and on again BF. So we did and she did have the suit and great decor. Kara was in charge of the goody bag of treats for the kids, so I would like to say we pulled it off. AND of COURSE Audrey LOOKED DARLING in her Christmas TUTU!!!

Oscar's Retro Breakfast w/gifts.

So I have been going to my mom's exercise group, which I used to make fun of it was more of a relief society of sharing recipes than a serious exercise group. The instructor is very serious and good, it's just the ladies, usually just laughed and talked. But it's been a good group to be a part of. Most of them are in my ward, very supportive and great social outlet for me and good support for me to get back in shape. Well they decided they wanted to go up to the famous Oscar's since for the month of December they were doing retro breakfast menu's and locals got the discounted rate, then afterwards do a hike, since it was considered replacing our exercise. So only a few of us could make it and they were so good to allow me to tag along with my baby. So we of course made it a party with white elephant gifts. *Note to self, always invite Paula and Tana to a white elephant party, because they don't give away no junk. So I think we went oldest to youngest. So Paula opened up one, then my mom opened up this beautiful cute quilt, like a baby or lap quilt- it was from Paula, but Tana had it and gave it away to Paula. Then Janelle opened up this nice brand new black velour jacket that Tana had given away that Paula had given her, then poor Tavia opened up my poor gift of an eggscuter, and egg shelling device that is worthless and doesn't work. So then I was the only person to take away the a gift, and I took my mom's. She was so mad and still is- but it's a darling blanket and we've gotten quite a bit of use out of it. So THANK YOU Paula! We then went up to Zion and hiked Emerald Pools, whew!!! I was so out of shape and so behind, I even got scared I was all by myself. Tana and Tavia were so helpful to take turns taking Audrey, yes, I was behind without Audrey, it was just all the extra baby fat... oh the joys of postpartum. Then Janelle was super sweet and walked with me down and talked to me the whole way, which helped me a lot. We talked about how much we loved traveling with our families and what a great tradition it is. I like what she does. Every year the whole family goes on a trip, whether that's a couple of hours away, states away or abroad. And every year her and Todd go on a trip for a week as well. Such a great idea! I am going to try to take on that tradition. So I am grateful my mom's friends have adopted me as one of the group. They really are great ladies to hang out with!

Enjoying the Christmas Season

Christmas has always been my favorite holiday and I like that it lasts for a month or so too. We had fun decorating the house, and doing festive things and mostly just enjoying our family. We are so blessed to have sweet little Audrey in our lives.
